• Nick Hudson

    Nick started playing at the age of eight and following initial tuition from his father and a brief spell in The Salvation Army, Nick was appointed principal trombone of the world famous Foden Motor Works Brass Band at the age of only fifteen. During his fourteen years in that position he established an international reputation as one of Europe's finest trombone players and teachers. He has presented masterclasses and performed in concert halls as far afield as Australia, Israel, Canada, the USA, Japan and throughout Europe. In addition he was the featured soloist at the National Brass Band Championships Gala Concert at the Royal Albert Hall in London on four occasions.

     Nick premiered the Wilfred Heaton Trombone Concerto live on BBC Radio 3 and gave the first public performance of Philip Wilby's concertino White Knuckle Ride - both composed especially for him.

    He released his first solo recording ‘Anthology’ with the Britannia Building Society Band in 1996 followed by the highly successful ‘New Horizons’ in 2002 featuring a diverse range of styles from jazz, avante garde and brass band repertoire. Another recording features a range of specially commissioned works for tenor and bass trombone where Nick plays alongside Douglas Yeo, Bass Trombone with the Boston Symphony Orchestra. His most recent addition to his discography is collaboration with Andrew Justice and the Enfield Citadel Band of The Salvation Army. The recording features original solo and duet repertoire and has already received critical acclaim.

     Nick also gave the premiere recording of Elizabeth Raum’s Fantasy for Trombone and Brass Band. In addition to these recordings Nick has been featured soloist on twenty other cd releases with ensembles throughout the UK and overseas.

    Nick has been guest soloist with many ensembles including the New York Staff Band of the Salvation Army, Grimethorpe Colliery Band, the National Youth Brass Band of Great Britain, National Youth Brass Band of Switzerland, NJBB Graubunden, National Youth Brass Band of New Zealand, Enfield Citadel Band, Kortrijk Brass Band, Brass Band De Bazuin Oenkerk, Tokyo City Concert Brass, Dubai Concert Band, Taunton Concert Band, Maple Leaf Brass Band, Brass Band Willebroek,  Brass Band Limburg, Lyngby-Taarbaek Brass Band, and Imperial Brass from New Jersey.
 

    He has also given recitals and lectures at the Royal Northern College of Music, Royal Academy of Music (Stockholm), Melbourne School of Performing Arts, Newcastle School of Music (Australia), Goteborgs Universitet Artisten, RAF Cranwell, the Norwegian National Wind Band Championships in Trondheim, the British Trombone Society Festival at the Guildhall School of Music and London’s famous 100 Club.

    Nick now resides in Devon but still commutes to Sheffield to continue his position as trombonist with The Brigantes Orchestra.

  • Dylan Quinlivan-Brewer

    Dylan comes from a long line of brass players in his family, which stretches back over a hundred years through the traditions of the china clay industry and St Dennis Brass Band, Cornwall.

    Before moving to the West Country, Dylan was Head of Brass at Wellington College, Berkshire. He was a Specialist Musician at, Wells Cathedral School, and was an Associated Board Scholar at the Royal College of Music where he gained a Bachelor of Music degree with honours.

    Dylan also has a Post-Graduate Diploma in Orchestral Performance and a Post-Graduate Diploma in Advanced Solo Performance from the Royal College of Music. He has a successful orchestral professional playing career as a trombonist, having played with the London Sinfonietta, the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, the London Philharmonic Orchestra, Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra, the BBC National Orchestra of Wales, the London Concert Orchestra, Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra and many more.

    For twenty years he was a member of Jubilate Brass, performing for all the major services and enthronement ceremonies in Canterbury Cathedral, which were often televised around the world. He is in high demand as a recitalist and adjudicator and has given master classes in some of the top schools across the UK, as well as at the Yerevan Conservatoire, Armenia. As a soloist he has performed the Grondahl Concerto twice with orchestra, Simon Wills’s Trombone Concerto under the late Malcom Smith and more recently a Trombone Concerto, by local composer Paul Painter, in Exeter Cathedral.

    Dylan lives in Devon, with his wife Davina and his two young sons.

  • Will Hall

    Will began playing the trombone at the age of 13 and quickly progressed through Northamptonshire Music School's award-winning county ensembles. His studies took him to the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama, where he gained a Bachelor of Music with Honours and a Postgraduate Diploma with distinction under the tutelage of Chris Mowat. He performed as principal trombone with all the college ensembles, including a solo performance of Berlioz's Grande Symphonie Funebre et Triomphale with the College Wind Band.

    He was a regular prize winner, and his accolades include the Richard Clarkson Memorial Prize for the best all-around musician at RWCMD, the Linda Mowat postgraduate brass prize, and the EMI Sound Foundation bursary for postgraduate study. He was also awarded the position of Graduate assistant to the head of brass.

    Will was later awarded the South Square Trust award to study at the Royal Academy of Music, where he graduated with distinction, studying under Dennis Wick, Ian Bousfield, and Dudley Bright. He also played with the National Youth Wind Band of Great Britain and participated in the Britten Pears Young Artists Programme.

    Will plays both tenor and alto trombone and has performed with The Bristol Ensemble, The British Sinfonietta, Orchestra De Cymru, Westminster Chamber Orchestra, English Concertante, WNO, The Bernardi Ensemble, The Auralian Ensemble, and The UK Brass Collective. He has played for numerous musicals and recorded many sessions, including for BBC Radio 2, 3, and 4, ITV, and S4C television. Recently he has recorded for the Paris fashion show and can be found on Disney Plus featuring on the soundtrack for Aardman productions short Star Wars Film. He has performed at Royal Variety Shows with Neil Diamond and McFly. He has also worked as Deputy Orchestral Manager for Milton Keynes City Orchestra and organises ensembles for university ceremonies and corporate events.

    Will moved to North Somerset in 2008 and lives in Portishead near Bristol with his viola-playing wife and two young children.

  • Omar Khoker

    Originally from Bristol, Omar studied at the Guildhall School of Music and, as a postgraduate, the Royal Academy of Music. Prior to studies he was a member of the National Youth Orchestra of Great Britian. As a student, he was a member of Juenesses Musicales World Youth Orchestra and the European Community Youth Orchestra and enjoyed tours of Canada, South America and Europe with these orchestras.

    As a freelance musician Omar has worked with many leading professional orchestras and ensembles both in the UK and abroad including, the London Philharmonic Orchestra, BBC National Orchestra of Wales, Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, English Symphony Orchestra, Manchester Camerata, London Concert Orchestra, London Orchestra da Camera, Central England Camerata, Bath Philharmonic Orchestra, Studio Orchestra, Orquesta Sinfonica de Tenerife, Orquesta Filharmonica de Gran Canaria and the Orquesta Sinfonica de Galicia.

    As an educator he divides his time between individual and whole class tuition, advisory work for Make Music Gloucester and ensemble coaching. Omar has also been invited to coach the low brass section of the National Youth Orchestra of Wales for their 2024 Summer Course.
